About Areiya

Areiya [ah-RAY-yah] is born from my lifelong relationship with tea — from being raised on its comfort to discovering its rituals while traveling the world.

My grandparents, who immigrated from the Caribbean to the UK during the Windrush Era, carried with them a tapestry of tea traditions — from hibiscus, cocoa, and mint infusions to British English Breakfast. These traditions, shaped by African, Indian, Chinese, and Indigenous influences, created a rich melting pot of cultures and flavors that I was raised within.

The name Areiya is inspired by the Taíno word areito — a sacred ceremony of dance, song, and storytelling — and reflects the layered heritage of the Caribbean and the global spirit of tea. With a passion for celebrating tea cultures worldwide, I created Areiya Tasting Sessions to share teas, stories, and ceremonies that honour this ritual. Each session is an invitation to pause, sip, and connect across cultures. I’m excited to share my passion for tea with you.

  • When tea becomes ritual, it takes its place at the heart of our ability to see greatness in small things.
